한양대 비교역사문화연구소] 11월29일(목) 트랜스내셔널인문학 콜로키움

한양대학교 HK 트랜스내셔널인문학 사업단과 비교역사문화연구소는 오는 11월 29일 (목) 오후 4시에 2012년도 2학기 트랜스내셔널인문학 콜로키움 시리즈의 두번째 강좌를 개최합니다.



HK 사업단의 일환으로 조직되는 트랜스내셔널인문학 콜로키움 시리즈는 '근대/전근대’, '서구/비서구’, '민족’과 '국가’ 등의 범주와 경계를 당연한 것으로 전제해온 기존 인문학/사회과학의 틀을 넘어 이들 범주를 문제화하는 맥락적이고 비판적인 시각을 소개하는데 목적을 두고 있으며 이번 학기의 주제는 "Empire in Transnational Perspective"입니다.


오는 11월 29일 강좌의 연사는 프랑스 제국, 서아프리카 및 안틸제도와 유럽을 중심으로 식민국가, 역사인류학, 사회/정치이론에서 흥미로운 연구성과를 생산해온 미국 City University of New York 인류학과의 Gary Wilder 교수입니다. 강좌 제목은 "Negritude, Decolonization, and the Future of the World"이며, 토론자로는 서울대학교 서양사학과 권윤경 박사와 Liazzat J.K. Bonate 교수께서 참여하십니다.

Negritude, Decolonization, and the Future of the World

This talk draws on one chapter of a book in progress, tentatively titled “Freedom Time: Negritude, Decolonization, and the Future of the World.” In it I analyze efforts after World War II by Léopold Sedar Senghor from Senegal, Aimé Césaire from Martinique, and their African and Caribbean colleagues to fashion non-national forms of decolonization at a time, which I call the postwar opening, when the political solution to the problem of colonial freedom was not yet settled.



연사약력:

Gary Wilder is Associate Professor of Anthropology at the City University of New York, United States. His research interests are the French empire, colonial states, historical anthropology, and social/political theory with a focus on western Africa, the Antilles, and Europe. He has published articles to African and Black Diaspora: An International Journal, American Historical Review, History and Anthropology, and Radical History Review. His recent book, The French Imperial Nation-State: Negritude and Colonial Humanism Between the Two World Wars (Chicago: University of Chicago Press, 2005), examines how networks of science, administration, public opinion, and literature of the French empire connected colonial reformers in French West Africa to a black public sphere in Paris. Currently, he is working on a new book project titled Freedom Time: Negritude, Decolonization, and the Future of the World.
